Commerce and Politics

New Zealand has lost its way along with productive business enterprises.
We do not make anything any more.
We take in the neighbours washing and they mow our lawn.

So what is shameful about that you may ask, well it is the price.  We are being ripped off.

We are a rip off nation.  How sad but because we add no value any longer there is no justification for high reward  but the price of houses and the cost of services, health and council rates and levies, mean that it is a struggle just to survive, so take it from where you can. Most services we are obliged to use are actually thieving from clients.

Here comes the punch line.
Sell whatever you can.
Sell whatever you can possibly do without.
Pay off debt.
As one of the highest debt levels in world households why do we believe this silliness will not end.

It will end, and end soon, and end in tears.

So why is this a name and shame, well simple, the vested interests do not want you to know you are going down the drain.  It is an unpalatable Political stance to tell people the reality and they cannot.

Where are the social parties, like Labour used to be perhaps Greens but who knows what they actually stand for other than power and high paid jobs, it is a political decision no one will take.
Thats a shame.

Westhaven

It is a "Haven" allright but not for boaties.
It is inefficient and expensive but a secure place of employment and a HUGE revenue stream for a Council that is all about the money.
They took the facility over after generations of Boat owners paid for it and now having valued it at replacement cost want a return on their notional investment.

A scheme fit for a New York Banker.

Whats worse than dealing with them, I can tell you, the Harbourmasters Office ! Rude and crude.

And did I detect the same "self interest" that seems to exist in Westhaven. Maybe !  But the issue may be a NZ wide phenomenon that public authorities employees use the knowledge gained in their employment to further their self interest. I think so.

To be fair however they are not a lot worse than the Marlborough Council that are more rapacious provide no services and are solely there for the money.

As an aside I asked a Marlborough Mayor why there appeared to be a shortage of local boat people on the board, like the ones that use and understand the facility and I was told something like, the Board needs a special level of expertise not available in Marlborough.   How does that make you feel business men and boaties of marlborough, you idiots !

Toyofuji

If you are thinking of shipping anything anywhere think again if you plan to use Toyofuji.
Sadly they do not know their business so you may well book a service to find it left a day earlier.

You may think you have communicated with them only to find your communication went into the ether and subsequent contacts will not reveal they have no idea what you are talking about it just gest ignored.

Using a shipping agent may seem like an expensive and unnecessary luxury but perhaps if they can get Toyofuji to actually do what they say and on time then it maybe cheaper.
